‘Kodungaiyur dump yard fire under control’
A day after major fire broke out in the Kodungaiyur dump yard, fire-fighters are still battling in dousing the fire and control the spread.

However, Fire and Rescue service officials claimed that they would bring the fire under control by Sunday morning.
Talking to DTNext, Fire and Rescue Services Joint Director, M Shahul Hameed said, “we have almost brought the situation under control. As of now, only thick smoke is visible and around seven fire-fighting vehicles and more than 10 Chennai metro water tankers are pressed into service and around 200 workers are on the spot to contain the fire,” and he assured that they would be able to put off the fire by Sunday morning.
When asked about the reason, he said the Corporation officials are finding out the cause, in which forming of methane gas was suspected to be one of the factors.
