This follows the appeal of party presidium chairman E Madhusoodanan of the OPS camp on Sunday to cadre to celebrate the big day with mass feeding (anna dhanam) programmes and disbursal of welfare measures. He also called on all party men, including MLAs, MPs and ministers, to participate.
On Tuesday, it was the turn of party propaganda secretary and Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker M Thambidurai to call on his group’s supporters to ensure grand celebrations. He also included a list of participants and the programmes along with locations they have to participate on that day in the state. It listed the celebration plans by party units in Puducherry, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, New Delhi and the Andaman Islands.
However, one section in the party feel that there would be trouble if supporters of both the camps choose a same venue for celebrations. Denying this apprehension, a former MLA said “This will not be an issue as police will not provide permission for either of the groups in the same location and at the same time.
