Fissures crop up in Deepa’s outfit

Deepa launched her new political outfit on February 24 and appointed herself as treasurer. Later she appointed Saranya as the leader of the Peravai and AP Raja as the state secretary. 

The cadre opposing the appointment of Raja assembled in front of Deepa’s residence and raised slogans. A woman worker attempted self-immolation, but was prevented from doing so by others. The commotion led to traffic blockade in the locality. 

“We are at a loss to understand why this man about whom we know very little has been chosen. There are so many of us who have been with Deepa for long, she should have chosen a senior person among us,” said one of the protesting cadre. 

A senior functionary of the Peravai said “Deepa was shocked by the unexpected reaction. She will henceforth appoint right persons for the Peravai posts after careful examination.” He added that Raja may be removed from the current post, if needed.
