According to a post on the Kamal’s official Facebook page, the actor exchanged pleasantries with both Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip the Duke of Edinburgh. Haasan took to Facebook to share photos and wrote, “The Queen seemed in good health and remembered her visit to India fondly.

The Duke of Edinburgh was in great shape and health as well. The exchange was brief as there were too many people. You might remember during Her Majesty’s visit to India, she visited my film set. Probably the only film shooting she had attended in her whole life.”

The actor was personally handpicked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to be part of the delegation that was in London to showcase the cultural diversity in Indian. The delegation also included other distinguished personalities including cricketer Kapil Dev, Malayalam actor Suresh Gopi and fashion designer Manish Malhotra.

During his brief discussion, Kamal Haasan recalled the Queen’s presence during the launch of his ambitious historic-drama film Marudhanayag am in 1997. The Queen was the guest of honour and visited the sets of the film as part of her visit to India. The high-budget film was directed by Kamal Haasan who also was slated to play the lead role. However, the film was stuck in development hell and never saw the light of day.
