Security beefed up ahead of President’s visit
Multi-tier security arrangements have been put in place in view of President Pranab Mukherjee’s visit to the city on March 3.

During his one day visit, the President would present the Presidential standard and colours to the 125 Helicopter Squadron at the Air Force Station in Tambaram and later participate in the Centenary celebrations of Women’s Indian Association at the Theosophical Society at Adyar. Pranab would be arriving here from Kochi for the functions.
Heightened security arrangements have been made in view of his visit. A multi-tier security has been arranged at the airport, with the CISF men guarding all the vantage points. All the passengers will be allowed in only after thorough frisking. Only those with valid tickets and ID cards will be allowed entry. More than 1,000 policemen have been deployed at important places and at the airport, the Tambaram Air Base and at the Theosophical society.
Police personnel would be deployed all along the route to be taken by the President. As a precautionary measure, police have intensified vehicle checks across the city. Lodges and mansions have come under police surveillance. Around 500 policemen have been deployed at Marina beach to disperse any protesters.
