Tamil-I gives easy start for SSLC Boards

Around 51,658 students from Chennai appeared for the Class 10 State Board examination that commenced on Wednesday.

Around 24,738 boys and 26,920 girls wrote their first exam on Wednesday in 209 centres. Most students said that they found the Tamil exam easy. 

Hema Priya V., a Class 10 student said, “The Tamil exam was fairly easy and I am expecting a very good score. I am very comfortable with Tamil but my worry is getting a centum in English and Math. In the model tests conducted in school, I have missed the perfect score by a few points in these subjects. My friends and I are aiming for state ranks”. 

The exams have started on a good note, students and parents hope that there is no reason to stress. President of Tamil Nadu Teachers Association P K Ilamaran said, “The Tamil exam had gone really well and we are expecting many centums. However, there are many students are worried about Maths”. 

Parents too are making sure they are supporting their wards in all ways possible. Many of them were seen waiting outside examination hall. S Lakshmi, a mother says, “My daughter was a little stressed before the exams and I have told her that I am right outside”. 

Chief educational officer (Chennai) A Anitha, said, “We made all the arrangements. Examination rooms were set up in ground floor for students with disabilities. We also had a few students with chicken pox and there were special arrangements made for them”.

7327 exempted from writing language paper 

A total of 7327 candidates all over the state were exempted from writing the Tamil language paper on Wednesday, complying with the Madras High Court order. 

“As per the orders of the High Court, the Tamil Nadu Education Department exempted 7,327 candidates from writing the Tamil language paper in the 10th standard examination,” Education Minister KA Sengottayan told. 

On Tuesday, the Court had directed educational authorities to exempt students of linguistic minority schools from writing the Tamil Language paper, those who applied individually or through managements of schools, The bench issued the direction on petitions by Linguistic Minority Schools Managements and individual students.
