Spate of phone snatching cases in city
Incidents of mobile phone snatching have been on a constant rise with three separate case being reported from three different areas of the city on Thursday.

Thefts were reported from Triplicane, TP Chatram and Egmore. The police also said that cases of mobile phone theft have become an everyday occurrence in the city.
At Triplicane, a female college goer, had dropped her smartphone, while riding pillion with a friend on his two-wheeler near Muthusamy bridge on Thursday morning. As they stopped the vehicle to pick the phone up, two men on a bike who had been tailing behind, snatched the gadget and sped away.
The woman, identified as Rubiya from Washermepet, lodged a complaint with Triplicane police. Cops are examining the CCTV footage in the area to find the perpetrators.
In a separate incident, a duo travelling on a bike snatched the cell phone of a man who was standing on the road and talking over the phone at Poonamalle High Road.
The complainant, Ezhil Arasan of Choolaimedu, Nungambakkam alleged that he was standing near Anderson lab, Poonamalle at 9.15 am, when two men and snatched his mobile phone and vroomed away. A police case has been registered.
In another case, a man identified as Shankar (48) of Anna Nagar East was standing at New Avadi Road on Wednesday night holding a smartphone in his hand, when two men on a two-wheeler snatched his phone and fled. The police have registered a case. Further investigations are on.
