Conversely, former chief minister O Panneerselvam, who has been accusing TTV Dinakaran of splashing cash in R K Nagar, also charged the DMK with distributing cash for votes. His ally GK Vasan of TMC who hit the campaign trail for AIADMK (Puratchi Thalaivi Amma) candidate E Madhusudhanan said that money would not fetch votes and voters of RK Nagar would not be swayed by it. However, Dinakaran termed the alleged evidence seized from Vijay Baskar’s residence as not true.
BJP MP L Ganesan on Saturday said that the raids on Vijaya Baskar were nothing to do with RK Nagar by-poll. He said that the raids would have been based on specific information provided by the people who were arrested earlier in the drive against black money in the state.
“I don’t see any politics behind the actions of I-T dept,” said Ganesan. He further added that politics has touched a new low in the state. “Parties are doing politics with money and dead body,” he said and demanded dissolution of the government for distributing money to the voters.
