Justice S Baskaran, who gave an interim order until April 14 based on the duo’s joint anticipatory bail, extended it after the government sought for more time to respond.
The complaint relates to an incident that occurred on April 6 in RK Nagar Assembly constituency involving the AIADMK’s two rival factions led by Panneerselvam and TTV Dinakaran which was to have its by-election on April 12. It has now been cancelled in view of rampant bribing of voters.
The complaint had been lodged against the two stating that they, along with some other unidentified persons, attacked a party worker owing allegiance to Dinakaran at RK Nagar. But the duo in their anticipatory bail application said the FIR had been registered at the instance of Dinakaran and they were not present at the place on April 6, as mentioned in the FIR.
