In a bid to ensure that the Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board has enough technical experts and engineers to bring to fruition various ongoing schemes, the state government has appointed the 81 candidates, an official release stated on Wednesday.
Anna University, which was roped in, conducted written tests on January 29, followed by interviews. The selected candidates’ certificates were verified between March 13 and 17 and a provisional list based on reservation was readied. All information regarding the selection was updated regularly on the board’s website, the release added. Housing Minister Udumalai K Radhakrishnan, Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan and Housing secretary Dharmendra Pratap Yadav were present when the Chief Minister handed over the orders to the new appointees.
The vacancies were filled as the state government has been accorded sanction to construct 2.21 lakh dwellings at an estimated Rs7825.55 crore with necessary assistance from the Central Government. This follows the government realising that it needed to construct 8.03 lakh dwellings based on a survey in corporations, municipalities and town panchayats.
