According to officials, this helpline, which was started by the health department, has proved beneficial for the students. It plays a pivotal role when results of SSLC and class 12 are declared as most parents and students seek their help. Students with suicidal tendency keep calling the helpline during examination and announcement of results.
B Prabudoss, Head, Tamil Nadu Marketing and Communication, said that the helpline receives 1,000 to 1,500 calls a day. “However, during results, the centre receives 10,000 calls. Furthermore, unlike in the past, this year, parents and students can ask about result details. In many remote areas, students and parents, who would be unable to know their marks, can even call up 104 for detailed queries,” he said, adding, that thousands of calls are expected from the students and parents on Friday.
When contacted by DTNext, J Radahakrishnan, State Health Secretary, said, “The state health department plays an important role in providing necessary information in the 104-helpline when public results are announced.” Parents and students could call up the helpline at any time to seek help, he added.
