Immolation attempt by transgender at CoP office
A transgender tried to immolate herself in front of the Police Commissioner’s Office on Monday night after the Triplicane police refused to register her complaint. Policemen on duty at the CoP office foiled her attempt and later, Triplicane police registered a case and arrested two of her relatives.

According to the police, Abhinaya, a resident of Triplicane, had alleged that her relatives Naresh (32) and Saravanan (27) had grabbed a land owned by her at Tiruverkadu and refused to hand it over to her. The Triplicane police reportedly chased her away. Abhinaya then came to the Police Commissioner’s Office and threatened to kill herself.
Earlier, a transgender Taara (38), killed herself at Pondy Bazaar police station alleging harassment by cops in November last year. In March this year, transgenders had damaged the windshield of a police vehicle following a conflict with the police at Aminjikkarai.
