The hotel authorities found a suspicious looking letter at the reception of the hotel, the contents of which stated that a bomb would go off on the fourth floor of the hotel where the Chief Minister was scheduled to attend the programme.

The hotel staff passed on the information to Teynampet police. Police conducted a thorough search at the venue, found nothing and later collected the CCTV footage to identify Kumar. “When questioned, he told us that the hotel authorities did not allow him to enter. However, he was later allowed to enter the restaurant.

He was drunk when he had left the letter at the reception desk,” Teynampet inspector Giri told DT Next . Kumar was later produced before the magistrate court and remanded in judicial custody.
