The first bench comprising Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice M Sundar, before whom the plea filed by the Commissioner of Income Tax Central Circle came up challenging the Appellate Tribunal’s verdict, adjourned the plea for further hearing to June 13.
The plea has challenged the tribunal’s order, which had confirmed the order of Commissioner of I-T Appeals deleting the penalty of Rs 1.11 crore imposed on her for not disclosing certain amount received as advance as income. The actress challenged the same before the Commissioner of I-T Appeals, who deleted the penalty.
Thereafter, an appeal by the Department before the Appellate Tribunal also went in her favour resulting in the High Court being moved to quash the Appellate Tribunal’s order.
