The deceased has been identified as Mohan from TNHB settlement in Velachery. He had been living alone as his wife had deserted him due to some differences. His father Moorthy said Mohan was last spotted in the locality on Monday evening.
On Saturday morning, MRC staff saw the body of Mohan in a pool of blood on the ground located opposite the veterinary hospital on Blue Cross Avenue. They immediately alerted the police, who rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem. The blood stains on the compound wall and liquor bottles strewn around suggested that the murderers must have had liquor with Mohan before killing him, said police.
The murderers would have known that there won’t be security at the entry point on Blue Cross Avenue and would have entered the MRC through that way. Police also recorded the statements of staff who claimed that they heard screams of a man the previous night.
