Three arrested on charges of selling gutkha
The city police arrested three persons on charges of selling banned gutkha on Friday.

During routine patrol, Ashok Nagar police intercepted a two-wheeler near Madley subway in West Mambalam and interrogated the rider. As he could not give satisfactory replies to the questions asked, officers examined his bag and found the banned gutkha in it. The man has been identified as Sivakumar, 29 of T Nagar. Further investigation revealed that he had business dealings with two others- Ethris, 39 of Saidapet and Mohammed Basheer, 42 of West Mambalam. A team rushed to the spot and arrested the duo, who admitted to their activities. They revealed that the gutkha would usually be stored at Ethris’ house. The police also seized bundles of gutkha worth Rs 80,000.
