Minister visits hospital after rise in suspected dengue cases in city

With the number of suspected cases on the rise in city and elsewhere across the state, Health Minister Vijaya Baskar accompanied by the health secretary Dr. Radhakrishnan and other senior department officials inspected the wards where patients suspected to be suffering from Dengue were undergoing treatment at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) on Thursday.

After verifying if adequate measures were in place at the hospital, the minister also interacted with some of the patients and enquired about their health. Over the past few days alone, dozens of men, women and children have been admitted at the hospital for the disease including a few police personnel. Meanwhile, Two CRPF personnel and a woman personnel from battalion force were admitted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital with symptoms of dengue on Thursday. 

They have been identified as Vijayendra Rao, Pradhan and Arulmani. Earlier, four policemen, who were admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital last week with symptoms of dengue, were discharged on Wednesday. 

Armed reserve personnel Parthiban (27) and Yogaraj (30), CCB sleuth Shibu (35) and Sakthivel, who belong to the 13th special police unit, were under observation and given treatment at RGGGH for over a week and discharged.
