Three killed, 2 hurt in different road accidents in city

Three persons lost their lives in three different road accidents in the city on Friday. Two others were injured in the mishaps.

According to police, Balaraman (49) of Om Sakthinagar of Kovilambakkam near Medavakkam was riding a bike, while his son Balaji was riding pillion along the ECR during the wee hours of Friday. Balaraman lost balance while climbing a speed-breaker near Panaiyur and hit a moving lorry. While Balaraman lost his life on the spot in the impact, his son was severely injured and admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi General Government Hospital. His condition is said to be stable. 

Similarly, two students of a private college, who had gone to watch a movie, hit another bike and a tree while returning back near Neelankarai check post.  In the impact, Sarathkumar (20) of Selaiyur fell on the road and died on the spot, while his friend Sivakumar from the same area was injured and admitted in RGGGH. A police official from Adyar Traffic Investigation said that they have filed a case regarding this and investigation is on. 

In another incident, one more youth died in an accident near Vanagaram. Police said that the incident happened when David (19) of Vanagaram and an employee in a private firm was waiting on his two-wheeler near Vanagaram signal on Friday morning. When he tried to cross the road, a speeding lorry, coming from Poonamallee hit the bike, killing David on the spot. Police have registered a case and investigation is on. 13 tourists injured Meanwhile, in Kancheepuram, 

13 tourists, including women from Maharashtra were injured after a lorry hit their van

Police said that when the van reached Orikkai village near Kancheepuram around 2 am on Friday, a lorry, which was heading towards Arani suddenly hit the van leaving the 13 persons injured. Half of them were rushed to government hospital in Chengalpet, while the remaining were admitted to Kancheepuram government hospital.
