The two trains were thus far starting from Chennai Egmore station. Train No.15629 will leave Tambaram on August 7, 14, 21 and reach Guwahati on August 10, 17, 24 and 31, respectively. Originating from Tambaram, the two trains would make a 15-minute stoppage at Chennai Egmore. DT Next had reported last month that the two trains would be the first to be operated from the suburban station, which marks the commissioning of a new “coaching terminal” at Tambaram.

Though the departure and termination of the trains have been extended to Tambaram on an experimental basis, SR officials said that it was normal to operate such services on an experimental basis, but it would be made a permanent fixture based on the public feedback. Officials reasoned that the experimentation was only to study the feasibility and extension of more train services to Tambaram would be done with the consent of Railway Board.
