Man ends life alleging harassment

Police said that the deceased G Muthu (52), a dalit from Perumal Koil street, Pichivakkam village, was building a house in the locality under Indira Awass Yojana scheme. 

However, Durai Sambantham, a caste Hindu, reportedly opposed to the construction as the way to his house goes through the land that belongs to him. Muthu has petitioned the district collector on many occasions to get way to his house, but in vain. 

Meanwhile, Durai Sambantham reportedly verbally abused Muthu on Monday after which the latter consumed liquor and hanged self in the house. Further investigation is on.
