The man has been identified as Chandrasekar (42), and kids as Meenakshi (11) and Rishikesh (8). Police said that Chandrasekar’s wife Jothi committed suicide in 2015 and he was arrested under abetment charges before being released on bail after 20 days. Since then, he had been struggling to manage the business as well as the kids and often told his friends he wanted to commit suicide.
On Sunday, he made similar calls to his friends and injected poison to his kids and self. Chandrasekar’s friends who did not take him seriously grew suspicious when calls to his phones went unanswered. They rushed to his house in a high-rise apartment on Arcot Road and found it locked from within.
They broke open the door and found all three lying on floor unconscious. They were rushed to the hospital, but the kids were declared brought dead. Chandrasekar’s condition is being monitored.
Virugambakkam police, who are investigating the incident, said that Chandrasekar’s father was a doctor and his house has a lot of drugs.
