Prisoner cuts veins with blade in Puzhal; succumbs in hospital

A 24-year-old inmate of Puzhal Central Prison cut his veins using blades on Wednesday and died at Stanley Hospital without responding to treatment. The inmate has been identified as K Ganesh from Hyderabad. He was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in August 2016 and lodged in Puzhal.

Since he was lodged in a cell in the quarantined section, nobody noticed when Ganesh committed suicide. Prison authorities found him lying in a pool of blood and rushed him to Stanley where he died in the evening. Further investigations are on.
