The victim, Rajkumar, is said to be a realtor, who also has a two-wheeler showroom on Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR). On Monday night, a five-member gang cornered Rajkumar when he was walking home and asked him to board a car claiming they were policemen.

Later, they threatened him at knife point in the moving car and demanded Rs 10 lakh as ransom to free him. Since, he allegedly told them he did not have so much in cash the gang attacked him and relieved him of his mobile phone and jewels before pushing him off the car at Kalpakkam.

Rajkumar, who reached Neelankarai around 11 pm, immediately alerted the police. Though police did not register a case till Tuesday evening, they were questioning Rajkumar for more details about the abductors.
