5 burglars arrested in Koyambedu
The city police arrested a five-member gang involved in a series of snatching and burglary cases in and around Koyambedu. The police recovered 40 sovereigns of stolen gold jewellery and Rs 3.85 lakh in cash from them.

According to the police two suspects named ‘Poonai’ Prakash (24) of Kattupakkam, a murder accused, and S Vijayakumar(27) of Nolambur were nabbed when they tried to escape after snatching a gold chain from a fruit vendor in Koyambedu on Sunday night.
Three other suspects – M Rajesh (25) A Rahul (22) and N Vijay (24) who escaped from the place were later arrested by the police officials.
Police said that the gang had attacked and robbed a private firm employee S Selvam (54) when he was taking the collection amount Rs15 lakh from market in Koyambedu on April 13 this year and they also robbed Rs 5 lakh from another man near Maduravoyal on June 19. The arrested five were remanded in judicial custody after producing before a magistrate court in the city on Wednesday.
