A division bench comprising Justice MM Sundresh and Justice M Sundar on finding that a similar petition is pending before the first bench headed by Chief Justice Indira Banerjee directed the registry to club the present plea with the earlier one.
Advocate PS Giridhar, appearing on behalf of Arappor Iyakkam, which moved the plea contended that there has been no due consideration of either qualification or assessment of the merit of Balaji much less any rational selection process.
He has no experience whatsoever in transplant-related administration, the plea said. He further noted that Balaji, who was an Associate Professor, was hastily appointed as professor by creating a department of Minimal Access Surgery (MAS) in the Madras Medical College.
