MCC alumni felicitated; role of alma mater recalled
The MCC Alumni Association and the College recently honoured their alumni in the fields of judiciary and education.

Justice V Parthiban (BA English, MCC) and Justice CV Karthikeyan (BSc Statistics, MCC), have been elevated to the position of Judges of the High Court of Madras. G J Manohar (M.A. Economics, MCC), Headmaster of the MCC Higher Secondary School, recently received the National Award for his contribution to education from the Vice-President of India.
RW Alexander Jesudasan, Principal, Madras Christian College, an alumni of the College, delivered the Principal’s address and spoke about the contribution of the alumni.
K M Mammen said, “To be elevated as a Judge of the Madras High Court is by no means a mean achievement and as an alumnus of this great institution, it is with great pride I say that we have two Judges of the Madras High Court here on the dais, who are alumni of the Madras Christian College. Justice V Parthiban and Justice CV Karthikeyan and G J Manohar who is the Headmaster of the MCC Higher Secondary School, is not only an alumnus of the College but also of the school. He is the first sitting Headmaster of this school to receive the National Teachers award.”
Dr. C Selvaraj, Secretary, MCC Alumni Association, offered felicitations to all the three dignitaries. He said, “The MCC Alumni Association is honouring the judges and headmaster of MCC Higher Secondary School, because they have put their stamp on their own careers as outstanding individuals.”
Justice V Parthiban said, “This institution is responsible for shaping my personality and what I am today was made here. The College had a great impact on me as it made me stand tall in my profession.”
Justice CV Karthikeyan expressed his feeling of honour to be back at his alma mater and said, “The College taught me camaraderie and I learnt to interact with my peers here. I recollect the opportunities given to me by my department when I studied here and that was the first step in exploring hidden potential and the start of learning new things.”
