Karthikeyan, 34, the man who surrendered at Valsaravakkam police station on Friday morning, said he had pushed Kannan after an argument over watching television and he started bleeding profusely due to a head injury.

Meanwhile, Karthikeyan and other roommates living in the house took him to a clinic where the doctor stitched his wound. They later decided to do a scanning procedure on Kannan as advised by the doctor. “At 3.30 am when I woke up and checked, Kannan was dead,” Karthikeyan said to the police in his statement. All of them had a drinking session on Thursday night and by 9.30 pm, Kannan wanted to sleep and requested Kathikeyan to switch off the TV.

However, Karthikeyan continued watching television and Kannan switched it off. This enraged Karthikeyan and he pushed Kannan, who immediately fell and hurt his head. This led to excessive bleeding, the police said.  “When Karthikeyan came to know his friend is dead, he surrendered. We have arrested him on charges of murder,” the police added.
