The deed was brought to light by the caretakers of the month-old puppy, who immediately contacted animal rights activists in the city. They said that 21-year-old Vishesh Iyengar, a mechanical engineering student, had killed the puppy on October 24 by throwing it from the roof. “We got a message on Saturday and rushed to Vellore.

The puppy was being taken care of by a group of students. The animal had wandered off to Vishesh’s house and he threw the puppy from the roof, killing it. We have heard that this is not the first time that Vishesh was accused of killing a puppy, as he had boasted that he had already killed one before on WhatsApp.

We have a video of him confessing to have killed the pup,” said Shravan Krishnan, animal rights activist, who filed an FIR. A message from the caretakers, posted on Facebook, revealed, “This person, Vishesh, already has a history of torturing street puppies.

Upon investigation from his neighbours we got to know that our puppy wasn’t the only one he had killed and just a day ago he had thrown another black puppy off the terrace.

Also, after killing the first puppy he posted comments on a WhatsApp group, and upon questioning by the group members he openly admitted that he had killed a puppy. The excuse he gave for killing the 2 puppies: ‘It peed on my clothes dude’.”

Last July, ‘Bhadra’, a street dog was thrown off the terrace by a medical student, Gautam Sudarshan, from Kundrathur, while his friend Ashish Pal recorded the incident on camera.
