“It is labrador dog. I want the owners to know the dog is with me,” inspector S Sekhar told DT Next. Only two weeks ago the animal activists in Chennai had managed to reunite a mixed breed canine with a German couple following 100 days of separation after the dog was stolen from them while they were strolling near the Marina beach.

The white coloured Labrador reached Sekhar’s Kondithope quarters at 7 pm on Sunday. “I found the dog with my children. So, I decided to give shelter to it. It is a well-trained dog which obeys instructions and is very friendly. It even goes out to answer nature’s call,” an impressed officer noted.

Inspector Sekhar, a known animal lover, on Monday took the dog to a pet clinic and later gave the dog a bath. The officer already has four abandoned dogs under his protection. “I started giving shelter to abandoned dogs after I rescued a dog from Marina beach,” the officer said hoping that the owner of the white Labrador would call him soon at 97909-65297 or 94981-26999 to take the dog back.
