According to the weathermen, Hindustan University at Padur recorded about three cm due to an early morning spell of rain on Sunday. Similarly, parts of North Chennai near Red Hills also recorded short spell of rain. There are isolated thunderstorms moving in from the sea, which are likely to give sharp spells of rains in a few areas during the morning around Chennai on Monday.

A weatherman from RMC, said, “Heavy rainfall was recorded in Tiruvarur and other parts of the delta districts on Sunday. While Chennai may remain overcast on Monday, there is a possibility that a few localities of the city would receive mild showers.”

According to weather bloggers, Virudhunagar and a few other places received moderate rain on Sunday and “things look good as well for places along the Western Ghats, to get some spells of rain in the interior areas due to wind convergence. During the course of the day, heating and the moisture moving across the land mass from the East will trigger some rains in the interior areas in the state.”
