Group enmity among HM leader murder accused

Kaja Moideen of Muslim Orunginappu Peravai, who was initially arrested for the murder, was declared as a main ISIS operative in the state by NIA. 

Because of the ongoing tiff between the two groups, they were lodged in separate blocks at Poonamallee jail. The six persons are accusing the other side of receiving money from prominent Muslim groups abroad and individuals, allegedly for court expenses. But the group doesn’t give any money to the family of the six accused.  

The split between the two sides widened particularly after some of the suspects staged hunger strike in October last year demanding to speed up the trial, when they were in Puzhal jail. “The six men feel that they had been facing the wrath of the staff for all the wrong doings committed by the other group inside the jail,” sources said. 

Family members of these six men, who want to speed up the case, submitted a petition to the Chief Minister on Monday, seeking protection for their kin lodged in jail. “We believe that Kaja Moideen, who is the self-appointed Amir of ISIS in the state, Abdullah Muthaleef of Mannady, (accused number 16 in the murder case) are the two men spearheading the delaying tactics. But other six want to finish the case as early as possible, may be because their contribution to the murder is minimum,” police sources said. 

Talking to DT Next, Rabiya, wife of Abu Tahir, said that her husband is facing threat from the other group. “There is no progress in the case. My husband is in jail for more than 40 months. His health is in a bad shape,” she said and added that she had explained everything in the petition submitted at the CM’s cell on Monday.
