The victim, Paramasivam, a retired IAF staff residing in Elango Street in Tambaram, was returning home on his two-wheeler after withdrawing Rs 1 lakh from Uco Bank. As he was proceeding towards Tambaram-Velachery Road, two young men stopped him and told him he had dropped some notes on the road. Believing them, he parked his two-wheeler and walked back to find a Rs 100 note and two notes of Rs 50 on the road. However, when he returned to the bike, he found that the handbag containing cash was missing along with the two men. After searching in the neighbourhood for them without luck, Paramasivam filed a complaint at Seliyur police station on Thursday night. Police have been collecting CCTV footage from the locality to ascertain the identity of the thieves.
