RK Nagar constituency has a total number of 2,19,407 voters. Recently, a total of 45,880 bogus voters had been deleted. In such a condition, voters in large number complained that even eligible names had been deleted from the list.
The EC officials conducted a camp in 51 centres and 256 polling booths and officials made addition, deletion and correction of voters. Around 20,000 persons had applied to get their names added to the voters’ list. District Election Officer (DEO) Karthikeyan also visited the constituency.
Under such circumstances, Marudhu Ganesh came out of the camp and submitted a petition to the DEO. In the petition, he mentioned, “While around 45,000 bogus voters from the list have been deleted, the AIADMK members have been trying to add those in the list again.” He also requested the DEO to prevent such activities.
Further, road works in the constituency are in progress and this is against the Model Code of Conduct, he added. It may be noted that the DMK in October moved the Madras High Court and petitioner and party organising secretary R S Bharathi had submitted petitions about the bogus voters in the list.
