Burglar cries ‘thief’, flees with jewels
A burglar, who was spotted inside a house by its owner in Perambur on Tuesday, acted smart in the spur of the moment and escaped without getting caught.

A Srilakshmi (35), a resident of Palani Andavar Kovil Street, had gone to dry the clothes. When she returned, she found an unidentified man taking the gold valuables in the bedroom.
When she screamed for help, the burglar attacked her, locked the house and ran away. To divert the onlookers, who heard the cries of Srilakshmi, he shouted claiming that burglar had run away, and he was chasing him. A few neighbours who ran behind the burglar thinking he was innocent could not catch up with him.
They realised he was the real burglar only when he escaped on a two-wheeler, which was kept ready by another man. The victim, Srilakshmi, wife of Anantha Krishnan, an employee of postal department. A case has been registered with the Sembium police station and further investigation is on.
