FB post helps Malaysian mom to return home with boy

Two days after a video of a Malaysian woman sobbing and seeking help to get back her four-year-old son from her husband’s house in Uchipuli in Ramanathapuram went viral, the state police on Sunday said that the woman Devasuria Subramaniam of Kuala Lumpur would fly back to her country with her son on December 5.

“There was some problem between her and her husband. It has benn sorted out and she will return to her country soon,” said Rameswaram all woman police station on Sunday. 

Police said that the woman had been living in Uchipuli for the last three months after she and her husband, a local resident, came to India with their four-year-old son. “Her husband is an autorickshaw driver. She was finding it difficult to adjust with the conditions that existed in her husband’s house. Meanwhile, her mother-in-law demanded her son to left behind, when she wanted to return to Kuala Lumpur. This had scared her,” police said. 

Devasuria in the video claimed that she was purportedly living with a fear in Tamil Nadu. She also alleged of being trapped in her husband’s village in Ramanathapuram. In the video, she looked frightened and claimed that her husband’s family members had been abusing and threatening her.

“I was bleeding and went to the hospital for treatment. They said they want to keep my son and send me back to Malaysia. I don’t know if they will kill me by then,’’ she said, adding her son was also a Malaysian.

After the video went viral, Ramanathapuram police stepped in and sorted out the problem of the woman in distress. She reportedly told the police that she did not want to go back to her in-laws’ home. 

“Currently, she is in her husband’s house and getting ready to fly back to Malaysia,” the police said. The woman also uploaded a second video, where she had reportedly apologised, requesting that the first video not to be made viral.
