Members of the Movement recommended that Domestic Workers need to be included in the State Legal Service Authorities Act to be able to access free legal service.
Pushpa, a member of the NDWM and a domestic worker, claimed that she hadn’t been able to take proper care of her family despite working at three houses. Stating that her salary is inadequate, she also tried to negotiate with the employer of the house in vain.
Meanwhile, MP TKS Elangovan stated that he would advocate on behalf of domestic workers and exert pressure on the Central government to enact the legislation covering living wages and other social protection measures for domestic workers.
