“They work in tandem, their agenda is to cancel this election. We had petitioned the Election Commission to hold the by-poll besides urging them to draw and use necessary forces to ensure security for the conduct of the election,” Jayaraman said.

Replying to a query on the videos and pictures of AIADMK bribing voters, Jayaraman maintained that it was the handiwork of the Opposition. “They are milling such false accusations to add credence to their smear campaign against the ruling party. The opposition could not stomach the lead that we enjoy in the contest, and the fact that we would secure victory with a margin of about 1 lakh votes. All we need to do is to talk about the milestones of our government,” he said.

He scotched the pre-poll survey predicting Dinakaran’s victory. Meanwhile, DMK MLA Palanivel Thiagarajan met the Chief Electoral Officer Rajesh Lakhoni, and discussed the modalities on preparing cleansed poll rolls for smooth conduct of polls.
