Drag race: Over 100 bikes seized
More than 100 two-wheelers were seized from youngsters on charges of overspeeding and rash riding on Kamarajar Salai near Marina on Sunday.

Mylapore police on patrol intercepted 80 bikes on RK Salai and Sullivan street and booked the motorists for overspeeding, drunk and driving, as well as for not possessing the required documents.
About thirty motorists were booked under Section 336 of the IPC for overspeeding and unauthorised alteration of vehicles.
A traffic police official said that the motorists belong to areas like Ambattur, Avadi, Otteri and Villivakkam, and had come to Marina beach for illegal racing on Christmas eve, causing inconvenience to visitors of churches in the locality.
Similarly, 18 two-wheelers were seized at Royapettah, eight bikes on the Marina and six at Abiramapuram police station limits. With just one week left for the New Year, police have intensified patrolling against overspeeding vehicles and drunk driving.
College student critical as mini-van hits trio
A 19-year-old college student and two others suffered grievous injuries after a mini-van collided with the two-wheeler on which they were riding on Kamarajar Salai on Monday. The injured have been identified as Radhakrishnan (18), Madhan (19) and Nethaji (19). Hailing from Madhavaram, the trio are said to be students of Dr Ambedkar Government Arts College in Vyasarpadi.
On Monday evening, the trio were triple riding on a bike on Kamarajar Salai towards War Memorial and the vehicle suddenly turned right towards service road on the Marina. The mini-van that was coming behind rammed the bike. While two of them suffered bruises, while one of them sustained serious injuries.
