Magistrate Menaka of 18th Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Saidapet convicted A Kumar of Kallakurichi in Villupuram district, who was booked in 2009 based on a complaint by a 35-yearold woman at Teynampet police station.

The complainant had stated that Kumar married her for the assets by hiding the fact he was already married twice. Police traced him to Thiruvannamalai, his first wife Punitha’s hometown in 2017 and arrested him.

Though he has three children from the first marriage and worked as a private tutor, he illegally married another woman in Kattangulathur and cheated her saying that he was a school teacher.

To the third victim, he said he was a college professor. However, Kumar escaped with jewels on the next day of their marriage.
