Missing man suspected to have died in accident
A 26-year-old man who was run over by a van in the wee hours of Sunday after the driver lost control of the vehicle and rammed it into a footpath on Anna Salai is suspected to be the specially-abled missing person from Adyar Gate area, police said.

City traffic police on Tuesday said that the victim in the mishap was identified as Praveen who went missing on his way to work at the Savera Hotel on Saturday. “However, we are waiting for confirmation from the family members,” police said.
Earlier, a representative from Vidyasagar Spastic Society who knew Praveen identified him with the help of his clothes at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital on Tuesday, police said.
Since there was no identity card found in the victim’s belongings, establishing his identity was tricky, said a police official. Meanwhile, 37-year-old Murugan of Ennore, whose was driving the van was arrested. Police said Murugan lost control of the van transporting water containers resulting in the mishap. Investigations are on.
