The two-day event, to be held on January 19 and 20 is to spread awareness on the topic and discuss medical procedures towards specific shoulder problems, led by eminent surgical experts from Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and India.

The conference will cover the entire spectrum of shoulder surgeries, including shoulder arthroscopy, arthroplasty, and treatments for trauma and tumours.

Participants will view live surgeries and teams of young surgeons will present papers in surgery. Over 600 participants including orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists and post graduates in the field of orthopaedics are expected to attend the event. “This Indo-German collaboration has been active for 20 years.

If you notice, there are specialists for the hip, spine, knee and so on, but hardly any for the upper arm and shoulder. It’s a neglected part of the body – this could be due to the lack of specialists in the field, and maybe the low success rate - and we wanted to change that.

The MIOT Upper Limb and Shoulder Replacement Unit is a dedicated centre to such cases, and the aim is to spread as much awareness as possible with this initiative,” says S. Arun Kumar, Vice President of Brand Promotions at MIOT.
