“The results came as a surprised to us,” said S Supriya, adding that she was not able to access the results. “I was trying to log into the website from Tuesday night, but couldn’t access the page even till midnight. It was only after 4 am that I could check my results.”

Many students complained that they were not able to access the results till Wednesday morning. “The site was slow and I could check the results after five attempts,” said another applicant.

The score card contains the individual score of the applicant. In the general category, those who score 321 and above would qualify and the SC/ST students have to score 281 and above to qualify. “I scored 510, which is above the cut-off, but it is not a great score. With this I can only get a non-clinical seat. I plan to prepare better and apply next year,” says Arjun S, an applicant.

According to D Rashmikant Dave, Vice-President, NBE, the merit list will be released soon after applying the tie-breaker criteria. “The state-wise results will take time, it could be in the next 10-15 days,” he said.

Explaining why the NEET PG 2018 results have been declared a week ahead of the scheduled date, he said, “We were getting complaints that candidates were receiving calls claiming that they have to pay a certain amount for securing a rank on the NEET-PG. That is false. Keeping this in mind, we have declared the results in advance. The results are now frozen and we will release the merit list in some time.” Around 1,28,917 students appeared for the exam that was held on January 7, 2018. One thousand two hundred is the maximum score and the topper secured 975 marks, according to the officials.

Last year, medical students across the country staged protest marches in different cities as they allege a major foul play in the selection of candidates via NEET-PG 2016-17. On the first day of the PG counselling last year in May, doctors, who did not get the 50 per cent reservation benefit, tried disrupting the counselling and were detained.
