The incident occurred around 6.45 am and the man, identified as Chaitanya Vuyuru, fell 45 feet off the railing where he was sitting. After browsing through CCTV footage, investigators said that Vuyuru was talking over mobile phone to someone agitatedly for more than half an hour while sitting on the railing when he fell off. Later, when the police checked his bag police found another mobile phone, his office identity card, two ATM cards and Rs 3,000 in cash.
Confusion over techie’s death
Police investigating the death of Bengaluru-based techie said that the victim hailed from Vijayawada and his father Janardhana Rao has been informed about the incident.
“He was working in an IT company in Bengaluru. Police sources, after browsing through his SIM card call details said that he was talking to a friend in Puducherry for more than 30 minutes,” a police official said. Police later contacted his father from the number found in the identity card. The victim’s family members reportedly told the police that he had left his native town on January 27 saying that he was going to Bengaluru. Police sources also hinted at recovering some syringes and bottles from his bag, but the station inspector refused to confirm. Investigating officers are puzzled whether it was a case of suicide or an accidental fall from the flyover. Meanwhile, his family has said that he was not undergoing any problems. The Airport police have registered a case under 174 (unnatural death) and waiting for the post-mortem report.
