Police sources said Nathuram had sold 1.75 kg of gold to a pawn broker in the city, and another 1 kg gold and 750 gm silver articles to another person in Bengaluru. However, police did not reveal the identity of the two as the investigation with them is not over.

“We are in the process of recovering the gold they had burgled from the jewellery shop,” a senior police official said.

Meanwhile, Nathuram, who was supposed to be taken to the heist spot in Kolathur on Wednesday to enact the crime, was taken back to Arumbakkam police station where he is being interrogated.

Nathuram reportedly confessed to the police that he had committed similar crimes in cities like Hyderabad and Bengaluru as well, preferring to sell his loot from one city to receivers in another city to avoid being tracked by the police.

After the Rajasthan police finally managed to arrest him in Gujarat, Nathuram was brought to Chennai by additional commissioner HM Jayaram and his team to investigate the case. A city court had on Tuesday sent Nathuram to the special team’s custody for questioning.
