Property owners, who faced difficulties in registering their documents, heaved a sigh of relief, while the department, which has sought daily report from the district registrars, has now fixed targets for March.
Officials said that the Registration department sought help from IIT-M and private IT firms to restore the online services. Subsequently, all the registration offices witnessed a huge number of footfall across the state. “We are very keen to not delay the process for registering the documents. Therefore, we have fixed target for all offices in accordance with the population in the respective districts,” said a senior official, speaking on condition of anonymity. J Kumaragurubaran, Inspector General of Registration, in a circular, said that since technical fault in the online facility was rectified, the department has fixed targets. According to the target, the number of registrations in the offices will be compared between April 2017 and December 2018 in sub-registrar offices and the number should be the same. The department also warned of action against those failed to conform to the rules.
It may be noted that Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on February 12 launched new online facility. However, the online system ran into a glitch.
