In May 2013, E Elllammal (67) of Narasingapuram Medu village near Gummidipoondi had approached the district police superintendent, inspector and the anti-land grab special cell. She complained that G Anjali Reddy and her husband N Ganeshan, a head constable in Kavaraipettai police station, created fake documents for her land measuring 1.42 acres, and transferred it in their names in 1998.
Ellammal said the duo submitted her death certificate and obtained two sale deeds in favour of Anjali, signed by Gummidipoondi sub-registrar.
She had also alleged that two sons, Mohan and Loganathan, connived with the couple. After thwarting their encroachment bid with the help of local villagers, Ellammal moved the Madras High Court seeking directions to police to register a case.
As the court ordered in her favour, police registered a case under district crime branch, and the first copy of the FIR was sent to Tiruvallur Special Judicial Magistrate handling land grab cases.
