Hailing from Chittagong in Bangladesh, A Jagadhulla had allegedly entered India through West Bengal illegally in 2013 with an agent’s help. Since then, he has been working in Mumbai and Thane for a few years hiding his nationality, said the CCB sleuths who arrested him. Jagadhulla had managed to procure Aadhaar and PAN cards besides a driving licence from Mumbai, using which he obtained an Indian passport.

On Sunday, Jagadhulla reached Chennai airport to board a Dubai-bound flight. However, when he showed his passport, the Airport Foreigner Regional Registration Officer, Rajnarayan Singh, had a suspicion. Upon enquiry, the official found out that Jagadhulla was a Bangladeshi national who had obtained the passport illegally. He was later handed over to the anti-fake passport wing of the Central Crime Branch, which produced him before Alandur magistrate who remanded him in judicial custody.
