Inspector dies on duty at defence expo venue

A 52-year-old traffic police inspector, who was deployed on security duty at the venue of International Defence Expo, near Mahabalipuram died in the wee hours of Tuesday.

S Subbaiah, an inspector at the mobile traffic unit in Tiruvallur, was posted in Tiruvidanthai to oversee the preparations for the defence expo that is scheduled to be inaugurated on April 11.

Around 3.30 am, Subbaiah complained of nausea and fell unconscious. He was rushed to Chengalpattu GH but was declared brought dead. He is survived by his wife Murugeshwari and two sons – Machendran and Amarnath. 

Senior police officials paid homage to his body before it was taken to his hometown for the funeral. Police sources said that viscera samples have been sent to the forensic lab to ascertain the cause of death.
