Expressing continued opposition of the bill, members of the Association, National president of the IMA Dr Ravi Wankhedkar, said that there are reasons to believe that the Government is enabling a backdoor entry through the states. “If there remain provisions to empower AYUSH or even non-doctors to practise modern medicine through state mechanisms, it will be firmly resisted by IMA and the medical fraternity,” he said.

He also expressed other concerns of the Association, which include the need to address the violence on doctors and hospitals across the country by bringing in a Central Hospital Protection Act and the need to introduce accreditation as the process of validation and exemption to single doctor clinics from Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act.
