While the piling up of garbage remains an issue, public are also forced to contend with potholes on the road, which has not been relaid for a long time.
Residents of RMK Nagar and Perungalathur, who use this road, say its condition is worse starting from under the Vandalur bridge till the beginning of the Perungalathur panchayat limits. “The road is very bad and it gets worse during the rainy season. Many motorists fall and get injured during that time,” said Ramesh, a shop owner.
With authorities not taking any action, motorists seem to prefer an alternate route despite it costing them additional travel time. “Riding on this link road is difficult, especially during the night time,” said Naveen Kumar, a final year engineering student from Perungulathur.
When contacted, Vandalur panchayat secretary Veeraragavan said, “The road is in not in good shape. Besides, we are not able to dispose of the garbage properly. But, we will look into the issue and soon commence road maintenance work.”
